What does being a member mean? Will folks have to go through class or sign a paper signifying them as a member?
Hopefully, true members will be committed to our direction with Christ and feel connected to the body of Christ and not just our community. So, when a person chooses God as their Savior, are they not at that moment a member?
I completely agree, Micah. A handful of years back, the only reason why I became a member of NVCL was because I believed in voting for the AOG disaffiliation. As time passed (could it be that I matured?), I began to understand the value of becoming a member of a particular body of believers because of the value that a covenant can have in one's life. While I feel strongly that all Christ-followers are members of the Church, I also think there's value in being a member of a church because it speaks to a level of commitment to a community. Ultimately this level of commitment could speak to a not-yet-Christian's sense of belonging. Because we're all built for relationship/community, we all have a need to belong somewhere. Making sense? -Ah
Yeah, that makes sense to me. Thank you for answering my questions/thoughts. How then, if we all agree that there should be a membership process, will we accomplish that?
