I have been thinking about this for awhile. Even before I saw Amos' list, I really liked thewellindy.com
I think it reminds us that the church is anywhere we are. Although we may be having our worship gatherings in Fishers, we're really a church that is spread throughout the Indy northside...maybe someday expanding beyond that.
Any thoughts about that?

What do you think about
gather at the well
meet at the well
at the well
or something of that nature?

After further thought I wonder if the names I suggested are contrary to the idea of us "being sent" by suggesting that we meet somewhere versus going somewhere.
Therefore, opposite of meet at the well is... I am not sure.

Anyway, just wanted to critique my suggestions.
From the list of provided names, I like

I don't know if you have decided on the website but I noticed a trend for churches use .cc and I found that www.atthewell.cc is available. Just a thought. - Ryan Foust

Note that I added a "cc" online destination that isn't yet being used. Short and sweet. well.cc. Thanks for the reminder on the cc extension, Foust. I had forgotten about that. I'm not sure how widely know it is at this point, but the target we're going after is very web savvy and wouldn't struggle with it.
re: Poe's comment: "I think it (thewellindy.com) reminds us that the church is anywhere we are. Although we may be having our worship gatherings in Fishers, we're really a church that is spread throughout the Indy northside...maybe someday expanding beyond that. Any thoughts about that?" -- My thoughts on that...I think there's room to misinterpret the Church as existing in a physical place/location other than in the hearts of Christ-followers. However, I do see Ryan's point about us reaching our specific area with Christ's message.
re: Foust's comment: "After further thought I wonder if the names I suggested (gather at the well, meet at the well, at the well) are contrary to the idea of us 'being sent' by suggesting that we meet somewhere versus going somewhere." -- I really like this thought. I would absolutely like the names Foust suggested (gather at the well, meet at the well, at the well) if the online destination was only speaking to our weekend gathering. I think the website will speak to what our community is about as a whole...the weekend gathering only being one small portion.
All that said, because I can't think of "opposite of meet at the well," along the being sent mindset, I suggest we just go with our identity by using... thewellcommunity.net

The simplier we can make our url, the better. My company, (Leaf) has run into a lot of problems around our url's and so I am possibly too sensitive when it comes to picking a url. Here's some examples:
1st url: www.leafpartner.com
Our name is "Leaf", but because our url had the name 'partner', everyone began calling us "Leaf Partner." It's natural for folks to think that is your name when it is your url or email address.
2nd url: www.discoverleaf.com
While this has an action involved and sounds good, decsion makers didn't feel that it represented what we do, so it got dropped.
3rd url: www.leafsoftwaresolutions.com
Too stinkn' long! But we use it because it describes what we do and if folks call us "Leaf Software Solutions, or Leaf Software" we let it slide because it's close enough.
All this to say, a url can be a big deal. My concerns with 'thewellindy' is how it sounds when you say it quickly and the location issue. And my concerns with 'thewellcommunity' is it has a slight ayre of arrogance. While it does describe us, folks also might start calling us such.
I feeling like I'm being a party pooper. Sorry. I guess I'm in favor of "Well.cc" and let folks catch on to the 'cc.' And because it's new, it might even be more memorable that way. Is "The-Well.cc" available or a variation of that?

I just checked and "the-well.cc" is available.

i also agree with keeping it simple and short, and i don't feel that using ".cc" will be a problem. I do like Well.cc
On the other hand maybe the opposite of "at the well" could be "we are the well" or "be the well".
wearethewell.com kind of looks funny but i also like it. if there is some other way of saying "we are" so it doesn't look like wear, maybe thats not such a big deal either??
